Mega Sky Watching Program Captivates Students in Korea District

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 11, 2025: A remarkable sky-watching event held at the Mini Stadium of Government Adarsh Ramanuj Higher Secondary School in Baikunthpur, Korea district, brought the mysteries of the cosmos closer to over 500 students. Organized on the evening of May 10, the “Mega Sky Watching Program” offered a hands-on astronomical experience and proved to be a significant leap in popularizing science education among young learners.

Hosted jointly by the District Administration Korea, the Junior Red Cross Society, and the Breakthrough Science Society Korea, the event aimed to cultivate scientific thinking, encourage curiosity, and introduce students to the wonders of astronomy.

Students were treated to direct telescope observations of the Moon, Mars, and Jupiter, turning theoretical knowledge into an immersive experience. The LED display of cosmic phenomena further enhanced their learning, turning the evening into both an educational and entertaining experience.

District Collector Mrs. Chandan Tripathi, who was present as chief guest, praised the children’s enthusiasm. She was joined by District Superintendent of Police Mr. Ravi Kurre and District Panchayat Vice President Mrs. Vandana Rajwade, who lauded the event’s contribution to shaping a scientifically aware generation.

Science communicators Mr. Patit Pavan Kuila, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Ms. Pooja Sharma, and Mr. Kamal Dadsena explained complex space concepts in simple terms. Telescope experts Jeevan Sahu and Neeraj Kumar provided technical insights, while District Education Officer Mr. Jitendra Gupta’s presence underscored the education department’s support.

Students from both government and private schools participated alongside teachers, parents, and the general public, making it a truly inclusive celebration of science. Starting at 5 p.m., the event continued into the night, igniting a spark of scientific curiosity across age groups.

The program’s motto—“Science for Humanity, Science for Society, Science in Thinking”—resonated throughout the event. The active involvement of schools, encouraged by the district administration, ensured that science was not just studied, but experienced.

This initiative proved that with the right exposure and opportunity, students can develop a strong scientific temperament and reach new heights in the field of science and technology.
