CM Pays Tribute to Martyred ASP Akash Rao Girpunje, Reviews Sukma Naxal Attack

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 9, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai on Sunday paid heartfelt tribute to martyred Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akash Rao Girpunje, who lost his life in an IED blast carried out by Naxalites in the Konta region of Sukma district. The Chief Minister visited the officer’s residence in Raipur, where he laid a floral wreath on the mortal remains of the braveheart and extended condolences to the grieving family.

Lauding the courage and sacrifice of ASP Girpunje, Chief Minister Sai said, “He has laid down his life in the line of duty with immense courage and dedication. The entire state is proud of his valor. The government stands firmly with his family during this tragic time.”

He was accompanied by Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Shri Manoj Pingua, Director General of Police Shri Arun Dev Gautam, and Additional Director General of Police (Naxal Operations) Shri Vivekanand Sinha, all of whom also paid respects to the fallen officer.

In light of the incident, the Chief Minister postponed his scheduled visit to Rajnandgaon and convened a high-level emergency meeting with senior Home Department officials at the Mahanadi Bhawan Secretariat. During the meeting, he reviewed details of the Naxal attack and ongoing counter-operations, and instructed authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured personnel.

Later in the day, Chief Minister Sai visited the Ramkrishna Care Hospital in Raipur, where security personnel injured in the blast are being treated. He personally enquired about their condition and wished them a speedy recovery, directing hospital staff to provide all necessary medical support without delay.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Pingua, DGP Shri Arun Dev Gautam, Principal Secretary to CM Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, ADG Naxal Operations Shri Vivekanand Sinha, and Secretary to CM Shri Rahul Bhagat.
