TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 9, 2025: The Chhattisgarh School Education Department has announced an open counseling process from June 17 to 26 to adjust 2,621 B.Ed qualified assistant teachers to the post of Assistant Teacher Science (Laboratory). These teachers had their services terminated earlier following a court ruling. The counseling will take place at the SCERT campus in Shankar Nagar, Raipur, with document verification and appointment letter issuance by District Education Officers scheduled from June 25 to July 4.
According to the department, these vacant posts are spread across 1,520 schools in 103 development blocks of 29 districts, excluding Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur, Janjgir, and Jashpur. Schools in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) have also been included due to their presence in the notified areas. The committee chaired by the Chief Secretary ensured that vacancies from Bastar Division, Surguja Division, and other remote or border development blocks with low teacher availability have been included.
The decision follows a cabinet meeting on April 30 chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, which approved adjusting these B.Ed qualified teachers in 4,422 vacant Assistant Teacher Science (Laboratory) posts, including non-advertised ones. It also allowed Assistant Teachers with 12th pass in Arts/Science to complete necessary qualifications within three years and mandated two months of special lab training through SCERT for them. Additionally, non-statistical posts were created for 355 OBC candidates.
The counseling timetable includes the publication of procedure details on June 13, candidate lists on June 16, the counseling process from June 17-26, and appointment issuance from June 25 to July 4. Candidates must join their schools within seven days of receiving the appointment order.
This process addresses the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s August 11, 2023 ruling, which disqualified B.Ed degree holders from the Assistant Teacher recruitment conducted earlier in 2023. Out of 5,270 appointed Assistant Teachers, 2,621 B.Ed qualified teachers were removed on January 10, 2025, following a High Court directive.
The department has since conducted a fifth phase recruitment in March-April 2025 to fill these vacancies with D.Ed qualified candidates. Out of 2,615 selected candidates, 1,316 did not verify documents or were found ineligible, and appointment letters were issued to the remaining 1,299.
The department is consulting legal experts on further recruitment actions, noting that over two years have passed since the initial advertisement, with many new eligible candidates awaiting recruitment opportunities.
