Bids Opened for 12th Round of Commercial Coal Blocks Auction; 14 Bids Received for Two Underground Blocks

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, June 18, 2025: The Ministry of Coal’s Nominated Authority today opened bids for six underground coal blocks under the 12th round of commercial coal block auctions. However, bids were received for only two out of the six blocks on offer, reflecting selective industry interest.

The bid opening process was conducted both online and offline in the presence of participating companies, with full transparency as proceedings were displayed on-screen for all bidders. A total of 14 bids were submitted—both digitally and in physical form—for the two blocks.

The block-wise details are as follows:

  • Rajgamar Dipside (Deavnara): 6 bids received
  • Rajgamar Dipside (South of Phulakdih Nala): 8 bids received

Both blocks contain non-coking coal.

Eight companies have submitted bids during this round, with each company bidding for one or both blocks. The participating firms include:

  1. Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (2 bids)
  2. Dilip Buildcon Limited (2 bids)
  3. TMC Mineral Resources Pvt Ltd (2 bids)
  4. Singhal Steel and Power Pvt Ltd (2 bids)
  5. NRSKS Mines and Minerals Pvt Ltd (2 bids)
  6. Shyam Ores (Jharkhand) Pvt. Ltd. (2 bids)
  7. Mivaan Steels Ltd (1 bid)
  8. Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (1 bid)

The bids will now undergo scrutiny by a multi-disciplinary Technical Evaluation Committee. Following this assessment, technically qualified bidders will proceed to the next phase — the electronic auction — which will be conducted on the MSTC portal.

The commercial coal auctions are part of the government’s ongoing reforms aimed at boosting private sector participation, increasing domestic coal production, and reducing dependency on imports while maintaining transparency and competitiveness in allocation.
