Over 38,000 Meritorious Students Benefit from Minor Forest Produce Federation’s Scholarship Scheme

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 18, 2025: The scholarship scheme run by the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Federation is making a significant impact in promoting education among children of tendu leaf collector families across forest areas of the state. Launched in 2013-14, the scheme provides financial support to meritorious students of Class 10 and 12 from these economically weaker sections, enabling them to pursue higher education.

Initially conceived to support around 100 students annually, the scheme’s outreach has expanded rapidly over the years. Since 2019-20 alone, scholarships worth ₹41.79 crore have been disbursed online to 38,114 deserving students, highlighting the growing demand and success of the program.

The scholarship program includes four major components: merit-based scholarships, education incentive awards for talented students, scholarships for professional courses, and financial aid for non-professional graduate studies. Depending on the category, students receive financial assistance ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹25,000, helping them continue their studies without financial hardship.

Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap praised the scheme’s success, stating, “This initiative not only connects students from tribal and forest-dependent communities to educational opportunities but also empowers their future. It reflects the state government’s vision of building an educated, empowered Chhattisgarh.” He further assured that efforts are being made to expand the scheme further, ensuring that every eligible student can benefit from the program.

The scholarship scheme continues to serve as a beacon of hope for thousands of tribal families, bridging the education gap and strengthening the socio-economic fabric of the state’s forest regions.
