TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 18, 2025: In a landmark move to streamline medical admissions and make the process more transparent and student-friendly, the Chhattisgarh government has introduced sweeping reforms in the undergraduate medical counselling guidelines for the academic year 2025.
Announced under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, the new rules offer several relaxations and digital upgrades to benefit aspiring MBBS, BDS, and BPT students across the state.
One of the most significant reforms is the reduction of the compulsory bond service period from two years to one year, bringing relief to students who earlier had to commit to extended government service post-graduation.
Entire Counselling Process Goes Online
For the first time, the entire medical counselling process—including registration, seat allotment, and final admission—will be conducted completely online. This shift is aimed at enhancing accessibility and reducing procedural bottlenecks for candidates across the state.
Vacant EWS Seats to Be Allotted to General Category
As per the revised guidelines, unfilled seats under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category will now be allocated to eligible General category candidates, ensuring that valuable seats do not go to waste.
Fresh Registration Allowed in Every Round
Another key change allows candidates to register afresh in every round of counselling, increasing flexibility and providing multiple chances for aspirants to secure admission.
Priority for Domicile Students in Private Colleges
The state has also introduced priority for Chhattisgarh domicile students in private medical colleges for vacant Management and NRI quota seats under SC, ST, and OBC categories.
Relaxation in OBC Income Certificate Norms
To reduce documentation hurdles, OBC candidates will benefit from simplified income certificate requirements, making it easier to claim reservation benefits.
The Department of Medical Education has confirmed that the revised counselling process will commence from July 30, 2025. Officials said these reforms will significantly enhance fairness, flexibility, and inclusivity in medical admissions across the state.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the changes reflect the government’s commitment to developing a modern and merit-driven medical education system, empowering youth and strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the long run.
