Extending Banking Services to Remote Areas a Priority: CM Vishnudev Sai

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 10, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to extending banking facilities to the remotest parts of Chhattisgarh, enabling farmers, traders, and rural residents to access essential financial services without having to travel long distances. Emphasising that banking access strengthens economic activities and ensures the smooth delivery of government schemes, the CM said his administration will continue to prioritise financial inclusion as a key driver of rural development.

Speaking from the CM Camp Office in Bagia village, Jashpur district, Shri Sai virtually inaugurated three new branches of Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank — located at Aara village in Jashpur block, Kudekela in Pathalgaon block, and Chhichhli in Bagicha block. On the occasion, he also released the bank’s 12th Annual Report.

44,000 People Across 23 Gram Panchayats to Benefit
With these new openings, approximately 44,000 residents from 23 Gram Panchayats and 48 dependent villages will have direct access to banking services locally. “Villagers will now save both time and money, as they will no longer need to travel far for simple banking transactions,” the CM noted.

Atal Digital Seva Kendras Expanding Financial Access
Highlighting digital inclusion, Shri Sai informed that Atal Digital Seva Kendras have already been established in 268 panchayats of Jashpur district, facilitating transactions worth nearly ₹15 crore so far. Plans are underway to open these centres in all panchayats by the upcoming Panchayat Diwas, bringing banking, insurance, and government scheme-related services to the doorsteps of villagers.

Local Leaders Welcome the Move
Sarpanch Anima Minj of Chhichhli, Manoj Bhagat of Aara, and Shashikanta Painkra of Kudekela expressed that the new branches would transform financial access in their villages. MLA Raimuni Bhagat from Aara said that the openings would ensure direct bank transfers of government benefits to beneficiaries. MLA Gomti Sai from Kudekela lauded the initiative, connecting it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Jan Dhan Yojana, which has significantly boosted financial awareness. Zila Panchayat President Salik Sai also thanked the Chief Minister for prioritising rural banking.

Branch Network Reaches 30 in Jashpur District
With the inauguration of these three branches, the total number of Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank branches in Jashpur district now stands at 30, marking a significant expansion of the rural banking network.

The inauguration event at the CM Camp Office was attended by Mati Kala Board Chairman Shambhunath Chakravarty, Zila Panchayat members Ved Prakash Bhagat, Upendra Yadav, and Sunil Gupta, Zila Panchayat CEO Abhishek Kumar, Chhattisgarh Rajya Gramin Bank Chairman Vinod Arora, and public representatives, along with villagers from all three Gram Panchayats who joined virtually.
