CM Vishnudev Sai Welcomes Historic GST Reforms, Calls It a New Era for Common Citizens and Industry

TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 3, 2025 – Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has lauded the sweeping reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system announced by the Union Government, calling it a transformative step under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the reforms mark a new direction for India’s taxation framework, ensuring relief for the common man while giving a strong push to industries and businesses.

Welcoming the decision, Sai said that the reforms, which include significant reductions in GST rates and exemptions on essential items, will directly ease the burden on households. “After granting exemption of up to ₹12 lakh in income tax, the government has now made daily necessities, agricultural equipment, food items, medicines, educational supplies, automobiles, electronic goods, and even entertainment items cheaper through GST reforms. Several essential items have been moved to the zero-tax bracket, which will directly improve the quality of life for citizens,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that the reforms, which will come into effect during the upcoming Navratri festival, reflect the Prime Minister’s vision of “Ease of Living” and “Ease of Doing Business.” By simplifying the tax structure, the government has not only reduced costs for consumers but also created an enabling environment for businesses, especially small traders, entrepreneurs, and farmers.

Sai stressed that these reforms will give new energy to India’s economy by boosting consumption, increasing competitiveness in industry, and improving investor confidence. “This decision is not only a step towards making taxation simpler but also a reflection of the Modi government’s determination to strengthen both households and the business community,” he said.

On behalf of the three crore people of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Sai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for spearheading the reform. “This bold step is proof of the government’s commitment to making life simpler for ordinary citizens while propelling India to new heights in the global economy,” he remarked.

Officials in Raipur noted that the reforms are expected to bring down the cost of living, encourage local production, and ensure that the benefits of a simplified GST system reach every section of society—from farmers and students to patients and small traders. The move is being hailed as one of the most significant milestones in India’s economic policy since the introduction of GST in 2017.
