“Healthy Women, Strong Family Campaign” and National Nutrition Month to Launch with Nationwide Celebrations

TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 16, 2025:  Chhattisgarh is set to join the nation in a massive health and nutrition drive as the “Healthy Women, Strong Family Campaign” and National Nutrition Month 2025 are launched tomorrow with the participation of lakhs of people across villages and towns. The campaign, spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, will run from September 17 to October 2, while Nutrition Month will continue until October 16. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the initiative in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, marking its nationwide rollout.

In Chhattisgarh, the state-level inaugural ceremony will be held at the Agriculture College Auditorium, Raipur, with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai as the chief guest and Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi presiding.

The campaign will see the organization of over 7,500 health camps across the state, focusing on early screening and treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, tuberculosis, leprosy, and other diseases affecting women and children. Pregnant women will receive prenatal checkups, maternal and child protection cards will be distributed, and vaccination drives will be intensified. Special awareness sessions will also address nutrition, adolescent health, and menstrual hygiene.

As part of National Nutrition Month, activities such as nutrition panchayats, maternal-child health camps, counseling sessions, and community events at Anganwadi and panchayat levels will take place. Eligible women will be enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, while families will be encouraged to adopt millets and local nutritious foods such as kodo, kutki, and ragi. A key highlight is the effort to involve men and youth in child-rearing and nutrition awareness, ensuring that the campaign evolves into a people’s movement.

Chief Minister Sai said the campaign emphasizes that a healthy woman is the foundation of a strong family and a strong society. He added, “The national campaign on women and child health under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give new strength to every home and society. In Chhattisgarh, we will ensure this becomes a successful mass movement with the active participation of panchayat representatives, urban bodies, women’s groups, voluntary organizations, and youth.”

Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal noted that the organization of more than 7,500 health camps demonstrates the government’s priority on women’s and children’s health. He stressed that the initiative would reduce maternal and infant mortality rates while building long-term awareness around nutrition. Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade added that health and nutrition are the foundation of a strong nation and emphasized that quality services must reach every mother and every child.

During the campaign, innovative programmes will also be introduced, including the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” tree plantation drive, which links maternal respect with environmental protection. Blood donation camps, mobile medical units in remote areas, cancer screenings, adolescent health sessions, and immunization drives at district and block levels will also be conducted.

Meanwhile, on September 17, Raipur will host a special exhibition at Telibandha on the theme “Empowered India–Empowered Chhattisgarh”, organized by the Public Relations Department under Adi Seva Parv. The exhibition will highlight the achievements of the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the Saubhagya Yojana, rural electrification, One Rank One Pension, defense exports, and initiatives to modernize the armed forces. It will also showcase decisive military actions after Uri and Pulwama, reforms against terrorism and Maoist violence, and landmark programmes like Atmanirbhar Bharat, Digital India, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan, and Mahtari Vandan Yojana.

The exhibition will also narrate inspirational stories from Prime Minister Modi’s life, highlighting his simplicity, courage, and determination. Officials said the event aims to inspire the younger generation while strengthening the spirit of development and public participation in nation-building.

With the twin focus on nutrition awareness and national achievements, Chhattisgarh is preparing for a fortnight of activities that seek to blend public health, social empowerment, and patriotic pride into a single mass movement.
