TFP Bureau,New Delhi, October 17, 2025: The Ministry of Railways has reported significant progress under the ongoing Special Campaign 5.0, launched by the Government of India to promote cleanliness, administrative efficiency, and the timely resolution of public matters. The campaign, which runs from October 2 to October 31, has seen remarkable participation from railway zones and divisions across the country, reflecting the Ministry’s strong commitment to Swachhata and good governance.
At the mid-point of the campaign, the Railways has conducted 29,921 cleanliness drives at railway stations, offices, colonies, and other premises — reaffirming its goal to institutionalize cleanliness and efficiency across the system. The extensive campaign has not only improved hygiene and aesthetics but also strengthened awareness among employees and passengers alike.
Through efficient scrap management and disposal, the Ministry has generated ₹235 crore in revenue while freeing up 1.45 lakh square feet of office space, ensuring better utilization of public assets. Innovative Waste-to-Wealth initiatives have also been launched, where scrap materials are being creatively transformed into models and installations, demonstrating the Railways’ commitment to environmental sustainability and circular economy principles. Special focus is being placed on responsible e-waste management, with separate accounting and proper recycling protocols being followed.
In line with administrative reforms, more than 50,000 official files have been reviewed during the campaign, resulting in the closure or weeding out of 20,277 files. The Ministry has also achieved substantial progress in grievance redressal, disposing of 1.37 lakh public grievances so far, ensuring faster and more citizen-centric service delivery.
The Ministry has gone beyond cleanliness drives to strengthen public outreach through over 400 Amrit Samvad interactions organized at various railway stations. These sessions have allowed direct engagement between railway officials and passengers, fostering dialogue, feedback, and a sense of community participation in the Railways’ reform initiatives.
Officials stated that the achievements at the mid-point of Special Campaign 5.0 stand as a testament to the dedication of railway personnel across the country. The Ministry of Railways is fully committed to maintaining this momentum in the second half of the campaign, further enhancing transparency, efficiency, and public satisfaction within one of India’s largest government departments.
