ECI Strengthens Citizen Outreach with 1950 Voter Helpline and ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ Facility

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, October 29, 2025: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has strengthened its voter support and grievance redressal system by activating the National Voter Helpline, along with 36 State and District-level helplines, to address election-related queries and complaints of citizens across the country.

The National Contact Centre (NCC), serving as the central helpline for all States and Union Territories, operates daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM through the toll-free number 1800-11-1950. The centre is staffed with trained executives who provide guidance on electoral processes, voter registration, correction of entries, and other election services.

To ensure localized and faster assistance, the ECI has directed every State, Union Territory, and District to establish their respective State Contact Centres (SCCs) and District Contact Centres (DCCs). These centres function during office hours on all working days and provide support in regional languages. All complaints and inquiries received through these platforms are logged and tracked via the National Grievance Service Portal (NGSP 2.0), ensuring transparency and timely action.

In a further step toward citizen convenience, the Commission has also introduced the ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ feature. This facility allows voters to connect directly with their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) through the ECINET platform. Citizens can also reach election officials via the ECINET mobile app.

The ECI has instructed all Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Electoral Officers (DEOs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to monitor these systems closely and ensure that all voter queries and grievances are resolved within 48 hours. Additionally, citizens can submit complaints or suggestions via email at complaints@eci.gov.in.

Encouraging voters to make full use of these services, the Election Commission stated that the 1950 Voter Helpline and ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ initiatives reflect its continued commitment to transparent, responsive, and citizen-centric electoral administration.
