Training Programme on Investment and Risk Management for EPF Officers Begins at PDUNASS

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, October 29, 2025: A two-day training programme on “Investment and Risk Management” for officers of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) commenced today at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS), New Delhi. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Kumar Rohit, Director of PDUNASS, who encouraged the officer trainees to engage actively and make the most of the learning sessions.

In his address, Shri Rohit described the training as a timely and vital step towards enhancing financial acumen and investment management skills among EPFO officers. He emphasized that the initiative reflects PDUNASS’s commitment to professional excellence and the vision of Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC) and Dean of PDUNASS, whose leadership continues to inspire institutional growth and innovation.

Highlighting the growing global recognition of EPFO officers, Shri Rohit cited the achievement of Shri Vivekanand Gupta, RPFC-II, who has been selected for the prestigious Public Financial Asset Management (PFAM) Programme 2025–26 conducted by the World Bank and the Milken Institute at Bayes Business School, UK.

The technical sessions are being led by Prof. Satish Kumar from ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad, who is serving as the programme’s resource person. His lectures cover a wide range of topics, including institutional investment strategies, bond valuation, portfolio construction, asset–liability management, and portfolio evaluation. Prof. Kumar emphasized that “an asset cannot be managed if it cannot be valued,” stressing the importance of accurate valuation as the foundation of sound investment decisions. He also discussed the pioneering theories of Nobel Laureates Harry Markowitz and William Sharpe, who revolutionized modern portfolio management and risk analysis.

Shri Rizwan Uddin, RPFC-I and Course Director of the programme, urged the participants to maintain a spirit of inquiry and active engagement, noting that their participation would be key to achieving the training’s objectives.

The training programme includes officers from the Investment and Exemption Divisions of the EPFO Headquarters, along with faculty members of PDUNASS and participants from across the country.

The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS), the premier training and research institute of EPFO under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, plays a crucial role in strengthening India’s social security system. Through its capacity-building initiatives, PDUNASS continues to promote professional development, financial literacy, and governance excellence in social security administration.
