Prime Minister Inaugurates New Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha Building at Nava Raipur

TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 1, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new building of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly at Nava Raipur today, marking a historic milestone in the state’s 25-year journey. Calling it a “golden chapter in Chhattisgarh’s history,” the Prime Minister described the new Vidhansabha as not merely a structure of governance but a living temple of democracy that will shape the destiny of the state for generations.

Addressing a large gathering of lawmakers, dignitaries, and citizens, the Prime Minister said the event was deeply personal for him, as he had long-standing emotional ties with the people and soil of Chhattisgarh. “Today marks a golden beginning in Chhattisgarh’s development journey. I have spent many years on this land, learned from its people, and witnessed its transformation. This day fills my heart with pride and gratitude,” he said.

Paying tribute to Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Shri Modi said, “Chhattisgarh stands today at a new pinnacle of aspiration. On this proud occasion, I bow to Atal ji, the visionary leader whose foresight led to the creation of this state. When he formed Chhattisgarh in 2000, it was not just an administrative decision but the realization of a dream that recognized the soul and potential of this land. Today, as we unveil his statue, we can truly say—Atal ji, your dream is coming true.”

The Prime Minister recalled the journey of Chhattisgarh’s democracy—from its first Assembly session at Jashpur Hall, Rajkumar College, to today’s modern, eco-friendly building. He said that while the state began with limited resources, it was driven by limitless dreams and determination. “From borrowed rooms to this grand edifice, the journey of Chhattisgarh’s democracy is the story of its people’s willpower and vision,” he noted.

Describing the new building as a “pilgrimage site of democracy,” the Prime Minister said every pillar symbolizes transparency, every corridor embodies accountability, and every word spoken within will shape the state’s future. He emphasized that the Assembly will serve as a vibrant centre for policy, progress, and public service.

The Prime Minister lauded the architectural design of the new complex, noting its reflection of Chhattisgarh’s rich heritage and artistry. “I noticed glimpses of Bastar art in the Assembly’s design. The walls carry the message of Baba Guru Ghasidas Ji, teaching inclusivity and respect for all; every doorway reflects the warmth of Mata Shabari, every chair echoes Sant Kabir’s truth and fearlessness, and the foundation embodies Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ji’s principle—‘Nara Seva, Narayan Seva’,” he said.

He reiterated that “India is the Mother of Democracy,” highlighting that India’s tribal communities have preserved democratic traditions for centuries. Referring to Bastar’s ancient Muriya Darbar, he called it a “living example of grassroots democracy,” and expressed satisfaction that its spirit has been honored in the new Assembly’s design.

Prime Minister Modi said India is now moving forward with the perfect balance of heritage and modernity. “Today, the nation is advancing by embracing both tradition and development. The same spirit is reflected in this Assembly, where the modern blends seamlessly with the cultural essence of Chhattisgarh,” he added.

Reflecting on governance, the Prime Minister emphasized that the true greatness of a legislative body lies not in its architecture but in the welfare-oriented decisions taken within it. “Governance should neither be absent nor excessive. It must be balanced, humane, and rooted in the people’s needs,” he said, underlining the principle of ‘Nagarik Devo Bhava’—citizens are divine.

Speaking on India’s journey from “Dev to Desh” and “Ram to Rashtra,” the Prime Minister said Lord Shri Ram’s ideals continue to guide good governance. “This is the maternal land of Lord Ram, and the nephew of this soil has always inspired us to uphold truth, service, and justice. The vision of ‘Ram to Rashtra’ means a nation free of poverty and discrimination, where every citizen lives with dignity and opportunity,” he stated.

Touching upon national security and development, the Prime Minister noted, “India is moving towards the eradication of Naxalism and Maoist terrorism. The nation is proud of its success in restoring peace in regions once affected by violence. Operation Sindoor was a testament to India’s will to defeat forces of terror.”

He praised the people of Chhattisgarh for their resilience and progress over the last 25 years. “Once known for backwardness and conflict, Chhattisgarh is now a model of prosperity, security, and stability. The Bastar Olympics are being talked about across the country—a symbol of how peace and progress have taken firm root,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister said Chhattisgarh’s Silver Jubilee marks the beginning of a new era. “As we move towards our national goal of a developed India by 2047, Chhattisgarh will play a pivotal role. Let this Assembly set an example of policy excellence and vibrant democratic debate that inspires every other state,” he said.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister urged all legislators and citizens to uphold their democratic duties with devotion and integrity. “This Vidhansabha is not merely a place for lawmaking—it is a centre for shaping the destiny of Chhattisgarh. Let every idea that emerges here be guided by the spirit of service and the vision of development,” he declared.

He expressed hope that the inauguration of the new Assembly, coinciding with the Amrit Year of the Indian Republic, would inspire a renewed sense of national purpose. “Let us leave this temple of democracy with a resolve to dedicate our lives to public service and to building a Chhattisgarh that leads India’s march toward prosperity,” he said.

The event was graced by the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka; Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Om Birla; Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh; Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai; Union Minister Shri Tokan Sahu; and several dignitaries and public representatives.

The new Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha building, constructed under the Green Building concept, is powered entirely by solar energy and equipped with a rainwater harvesting system, embodying sustainability and modern design aligned with India’s vision of eco-conscious development.
