Chhattisgarh Tops Large States in APAAR ID Generation

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 7, 2026: Chhattisgarh has emerged as the leading large state in the country in the creation of APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) IDs, marking a major milestone in the rollout of a national digital academic infrastructure under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

As per official data available till January 7, 2026, APAAR IDs have been successfully generated for 50,60,941 students out of a total enrolment of 57,10,207 students studying in 57,045 schools across the state. This translates into an achievement rate of 88.63 per cent, the highest among all large states, placing Chhattisgarh at the forefront of digital education reforms.

District-wise performance shows strong and consistent progress. Bemetara district has recorded the highest coverage with 96.40 per cent of students receiving APAAR IDs, closely followed by Rajnandgaon at 96.38 per cent. Several other districts—including Raigarh, Koriya, Raipur, Korba, Dhamtari, Durg and Balodabazar—have crossed the 93 per cent mark. Except for five districts—Narayanpur, Bijapur, Sukma, Balrampur and Dantewada—more than 80 per cent of students in all remaining districts have already been brought under the APAAR system. Work to generate IDs for the remaining students is underway across all districts.

The Union government has set January 31, 2026, as the deadline for universal APAAR ID creation. The APAAR system assigns every student a permanent digital academic identity, securely storing academic records, certificates and credits on a single platform. This is expected to enhance academic continuity, ensure transparency, and enable seamless mobility for students at the national level.

State education officials said that, in line with government directives, teachers and school authorities are making sustained efforts to complete Aadhaar linkage and APAAR ID generation for the remaining students, ensuring that every child in Chhattisgarh benefits from this landmark national digital education initiative.
