Newly constructed assembly hall inaugurated at Government Higher Secondary School in Champa; senior teachers, meritorious students and nine job recipients honoured
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 29, 2026: Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka on Saturday urged students to pursue their aspirations with passion, discipline and sustained hard work, stressing that determination and perseverance are the keys to success.
Deka was the chief guest at an inauguration and felicitation ceremony at Government Higher Secondary School in Champa village of Balodabazar development block, where he inaugurated the school’s newly constructed assembly hall.
The Governor also felicitated senior teachers and educationists, meritorious Class 10 and 12 students, students who qualified in the Pre-Agriculture Test (PAT), and nine youths who secured employment under the ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’ (We Shall Succeed) scheme.
New assembly hall to promote educational, cultural activities
Addressing the gathering, Deka said the new assembly hall would provide students with a platform for educational, cultural and extracurricular activities and help them develop their talents.
Emphasising the importance of the teacher-student relationship, he said teachers should inspire students not only through classroom instruction but also through their conduct and character.
He encouraged students to set clear goals, develop a strong passion for achieving them and work consistently towards turning their dreams into reality. Referring to the National Education Policy, the Governor said it provides greater opportunities for skill development and acquisition of specialised knowledge.
Governor cautions against excessive use of digital technology
Deka also cautioned students against excessive use of mobile phones and social media. He said digital technology, social media and artificial intelligence have made many tasks easier, but their excessive use can adversely affect creativity, introspection and independent thinking.
He urged students to use technology judiciously and primarily for productive and necessary purposes.
Governor’s visit historic moment for Champa: Tank Ram Verma
Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma described the Governor’s visit to Champa as a historic and proud occasion for the village.
Recalling his own school days, Verma said teachers play a crucial role not only in imparting education but also in developing a sense of responsibility towards society. He encouraged students to remain determined in the face of failure and continue working hard rather than becoming discouraged.
Former Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal also addressed the gathering.
Tree plantation and Rakhi ceremony
During his visit, Governor Deka planted an Amaltas sapling on the school premises in memory of his late mother, Champavati Deka. Revenue Minister Verma and other public representatives also planted saplings under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign.
The Governor also visited an exhibition showcasing products prepared by ‘Livelihood Didis’ associated with the Bihan scheme. Women from the self-help groups presented him with a handmade Rakhi made using paddy and rice grains. Deka appreciated their craftsmanship and creativity.
Teachers and meritorious students felicitated
The ceremony saw senior teachers and educationists, including S.M. Padhye, Dr Nisha Jha, Dr D.N. Rai and Bhushan Dhurandhar, being honoured for their contributions to education.
Meritorious students felicitated included Jigyasu Verma, Class 12 state topper, Sakshi Verma and Amit Kumar Tandon, among others. PAT-qualified students Pravin Dahariya, Mamta Sahu and Mayank Verma were also honoured.
Public representatives, prominent citizens, teachers and a large number of students attended the ceremony.
