State-level programme to mark continued commitment towards women’s economic empowerment and financial security
TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 29, 2026: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will release the 24th instalment of the Chhattisgarh Government’s flagship Mahtari Vandan Yojana on January 30 from Narayanpur, during a state-level programme being organised in the Bastar region. On this occasion, an amount of ₹641.34 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of 68,39,592 eligible women beneficiaries across the state through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The programme in Narayanpur holds special significance as it symbolises the government’s focus on inclusive development and its resolve to ensure that welfare schemes reach women even in remote and tribal-dominated districts. The Chief Minister will interact with beneficiaries during the event and reiterate the government’s commitment to women-led development and social security.
The Mahtari Vandan Yojana was launched by the Chhattisgarh Government on March 1, 2024, with the objective of making women economically empowered, self-reliant and financially secure. Under the scheme, married women aged 21 years and above are provided monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000, enabling them to meet household needs, support children’s education and healthcare, and participate more actively in family and community decision-making.
Since its inception, the scheme has emerged as one of the most impactful women-centric welfare initiatives in the state. So far, a total amount of ₹14,954.42 crore has been transferred directly to beneficiaries through 23 instalments. The transparent DBT mechanism has ensured timely payments, eliminated middlemen, and strengthened trust in the system.
With the release of the 24th instalment, the cumulative amount disbursed under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana will rise to ₹15,595.77 crore. The scheme currently benefits more than 68 lakh women across Chhattisgarh, making it one of the largest direct income support programmes for women in the country.
Officials said that the regular and uninterrupted transfer of funds under the scheme has brought visible changes at the grassroots level. Women beneficiaries are increasingly using the assistance for nutrition, healthcare, education of children, small savings and self-employment activities, thereby strengthening household financial stability.
The state government has consistently maintained that women’s empowerment is central to building a developed and inclusive Chhattisgarh. Through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, the government aims not only to provide financial support but also to enhance women’s dignity, confidence and role in economic and social life.
The Narayanpur programme is expected to witness participation from beneficiaries, public representatives and senior officials, underscoring the state’s sustained focus on welfare, transparency and last-mile delivery of benefits.
