Describing the Union Budget as historic and people-centric, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai says the reforms-led blueprint will boost growth, jobs and inclusive development while directly benefiting states.
TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 1, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday hailed the Union Budget 2026–27 as a historic document that charts a clear course towards a developed and prosperous India. Reacting to the budget, the Chief Minister said it reflects a strong commitment to national development and citizens’ welfare, noting that it is the first budget prepared at Kartavya Bhavan.
Shri Sai said the budget is guided by three core commitments—accelerating economic growth and employment generation, fulfilling the aspirations of the people, and strengthening the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he added, the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will emerge as a milestone for the upliftment of the poor, farmers, youth, women, middle class and the labour force.
He further stated that several provisions announced in the budget would directly benefit states like Chhattisgarh by strengthening infrastructure, employment opportunities and social welfare systems.
Focus on Agriculture and Rural Economy
Highlighting the emphasis on agriculture, the Chief Minister said the budget introduces a series of initiatives aimed at increasing farmers’ incomes and revitalising the rural economy. The use of artificial intelligence and modern technology to enhance agricultural productivity, along with focused promotion of animal husbandry and the dairy sector, will provide fresh momentum to rural livelihoods.
He added that initiatives such as the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj programme would encourage local industries and handicrafts, generating new employment opportunities in villages and strengthening self-reliant rural communities.
Employment Push for Youth
Shri Sai said the Union Budget places special focus on job creation for youth, with sectors such as startups, MSMEs, manufacturing and tourism expected to open up new avenues of employment. Strengthening tourism, he noted, would boost local economies and allow young people to find work closer to home.
He also welcomed measures that would make foreign travel and overseas education more affordable, benefiting students and young professionals.
Historic Push for Healthcare
Calling the healthcare provisions “historic,” the Chief Minister welcomed the ₹10,000 crore allocation for the biopharma sector, saying it would help reduce the cost of medicines for serious ailments such as cancer and diabetes.
The budget also proposes upgrading district hospitals, establishing emergency and trauma care centres in every district, strengthening mental health services, promoting Ayurveda and setting up five regional medical tourism hubs in partnership with states. These steps, Shri Sai said, would significantly improve healthcare services across the country while also creating new employment opportunities, including in Chhattisgarh.
Women’s Empowerment and Social Inclusion
The Chief Minister said the expansion of the Lakhpati Didi scheme would connect women with credit-linked self-employment, entrepreneurship and access to local markets, strengthening women-led livelihoods.
He also welcomed the proposal to construct hostels for girls in every district, describing it as a major step towards improving access to higher education for young women, particularly from rural and underserved areas.
Boost to Industry, Education and Sports
To strengthen the economy, the budget announces seven high-speed rail corridors, development of 20 new waterways, establishment of large textile parks and mineral corridors across four states. An investment of ₹40,000 crore under the Semiconductor Mission is expected to accelerate industrial growth and generate employment.
Shri Sai said reforms in education and initiatives under the Khelo India Mission would provide improved opportunities for children and youth, supporting talent development, sports infrastructure and overall human capital growth.
Tax Reforms and Public Relief
Welcoming the tax-related measures, the Chief Minister said the income tax system has been simplified, making compliance easier for small taxpayers and the middle class. He added that prices of several everyday items—including medicines, clothing, footwear, mobile phones, EV batteries, solar equipment and biogas-CNG—are expected to come down, offering direct relief to the general public.
Summing up, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said the Union Budget 2026–27 reinforces the ethos of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas and Sabka Vishwas, ensuring inclusive and balanced development across the country, including Chhattisgarh. On behalf of the people of the state, he expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister for presenting what he termed a growth-oriented, inclusive and people-centric budget.
