Industry Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan says PM Janman Yojana accelerating development, empowering tribal communities
TFP Bureau, Korba/Raipur, March 2, 2026: Chhattisgarh Commerce, Industry and Labour Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan on Monday laid the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure projects worth over ₹21.35 crore aimed at strengthening connectivity and accelerating development in remote areas of Korba district.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held near the Shri Agrasen Gauseva Samiti premises in Kanberi village and was presided over by Premchand Patel, MLA from Katghora. Addressing the gathering, the minister said the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana has opened new avenues of growth by improving road access, boosting economic participation and enhancing living standards, particularly among tribal communities and PVTG groups living in remote forested regions.
He said the initiative has significantly strengthened rural infrastructure and social development, adding that work on the Chief Minister’s Gram Gaurav Path in the village would also commence. According to him, new roads and bridges will ensure uninterrupted connectivity, especially during the monsoon, when many interior villages face isolation due to waterlogged routes and damaged pathways.
Highlighting the broader vision behind such schemes, the minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently designed welfare programmes keeping the needs of all sections of society in mind, ensuring that benefits reach eligible citizens efficiently and transparently.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Premchand Patel said the state government is pursuing a policy of balanced and inclusive development, ensuring that even remote and previously neglected regions receive infrastructure and welfare support. He said initiatives such as the Janman Yojana are helping bridge development gaps between urban centres and rural interiors.
Officials said foundation stones were laid for eight major bridge and road projects under the Janman Yojana and the Chief Minister’s Gram Gaurav Path scheme. Of the total sanctioned amount, ₹20.92 crore has been earmarked for bridge construction at key locations including Gaumukhi, Chingradand, Gadagada, Kotgasara and Pensari Nala, covering strategic rural routes such as Lemru–Devpahari Road, Dokramna Main Road, Bagbuda Road, Batati–Bansakhar Road and Patrapali–Dhankachar Road in the Korba development block of Rampur Assembly constituency.
In addition, approval has been granted for construction of a major bridge over the Kothijhunjha Nala on Bahrijharia Road, connecting the Katghora–Ambikapur route in Podi-Uporda block of Pali-Tanakhar Assembly constituency, at an estimated cost of ₹278.72 lakh.
Under the Gram Gaurav Path scheme, a 500-metre concrete road with drainage facilities will also be built from Panchram Ghar to Hiralal Ghar in Katghora development block, with a sanctioned budget of ₹42.95 lakh. Authorities said these projects are expected to resolve long-standing transportation challenges and improve communication links in forest and rural belts, particularly during the rainy season.
Several public representatives and community leaders attended the programme, including Korba Mayor Sanju Devi Rajput, district panchayat members, local elected representatives, village leaders and residents. Officials said the strong public participation reflected growing expectations that improved infrastructure would spur economic activity, enhance mobility and support overall regional development.
