Suggestions from community members to be submitted to state-level UCC committee; City Qazi Mohammad Imran Ashrafi and Senior Advocate Faisal Rizvi to attend
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 30, 2026: The Muslim community in Raipur will hold a one-day consultation on the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) on September 1 to gather views and suggestions for submission to the state-level committee constituted by the Chhattisgarh government.
Dr Salim Raj, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Waqf Board, which carries Cabinet Minister rank, said the meeting would provide an opportunity for intellectuals and members of the Muslim community to present their views on the proposed legislation.
Meeting at Guru Ghasidas Auditorium
The consultation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, at Guru Ghasidas Auditorium, located opposite the Chhattisgarh State Waqf Board office at Collectorate Chowk in Raipur.
Organisers said suggestions emerging from the meeting would be compiled and submitted to the state-level UCC committee. Announcements inviting participation and suggestions were also made during Friday prayers at mosques across Raipur.
Written suggestions invited
Community members have been requested to submit their suggestions regarding the UCC in writing, in duplicate, addressed to the Chairman of the Uniform Civil Code Committee, Chhattisgarh.
City Qazi Qari Dr Mohammad Imran Ashrafi will attend the meeting as the chief guest, while senior advocate Faisal Rizvi will preside over the proceedings.
The organisers said the compiled suggestions would be presented to members of the Chhattisgarh UCC Committee at 4 pm on September 1.
