Oil Companies Urge Public Not to Panic Buy Fuel, Assure Adequate Stocks Nationwide

HPCL, IOCL and BPCL say petrol, diesel and LPG supplies remain stable; citizens advised to ignore rumours

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, March 26,2026: Public sector oil marketing companies have urged citizens across the country not to panic over fuel availability, assuring that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG and that supplies remain stable nationwide.

In a joint advisory, leading oil companies including Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited stated that adequate fuel stocks are available across the country and distribution networks are operating normally.

The companies clarified that supply chains for petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are functioning smoothly and that there is no reason for concern regarding fuel availability in any part of the country.

Issuing the advisory under the campaign message “#StayCalmIndia,” the companies appealed to consumers not to be misled by rumours circulating on social media or other platforms that may create unnecessary panic.

Customers have been requested to maintain normal consumption patterns and avoid panic buying, which could disrupt routine supply operations. Officials said such rumours often lead to temporary pressure on fuel outlets despite sufficient stocks being available in depots and supply lines.

In its statement, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited reiterated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted and seamless fuel supply through its nationwide network of fuel stations and LPG distributors.

The oil companies emphasized that they are continuously monitoring fuel distribution and logistics to ensure that consumers receive uninterrupted services across urban and rural areas.

Authorities have also appealed to the public to rely only on official information issued by oil marketing companies and government agencies, and not to spread or act upon unverified messages related to fuel shortages.
