PM Modi Unveils Development Projects in Chhattisgarh Worth ₹33,700 Crore

TFP Bureau, Bilaspur, March 30, 2025: In a significant boost to infrastructure and welfare in Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development works worth over ₹33,700 crore in Bilaspur. This includes major projects in housing, healthcare, education, and transportation aimed at improving the lives of citizens across the state.

Marking the first day of Navratri and the New Year, PM Modi addressed the gathering, emphasizing Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage and the government’s ongoing efforts to address long-standing development challenges.

“Today, three lakh poor families in Chhattisgarh are entering their new homes, fulfilling a dream that was once lost in bureaucratic files,” said the Prime Minister, celebrating the government’s success in providing housing to the state’s marginalized communities.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that many of these new homes, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), are in tribal areas, bringing long-awaited security and stability to families in Bastar and Surguja. “This is a transformative moment for many who have spent generations living in makeshift shelters,” he added. He also emphasized that the homes come equipped with essential services like electricity, water, toilets, and Ujjwala gas connections.

A key highlight of today’s event was the dedication of several projects, including power plants, roads, and educational initiatives, all aimed at creating sustainable livelihoods and fostering long-term growth in Chhattisgarh. PM Modi also inaugurated the Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Raipur, a step towards enhancing the quality of education across the state.

Addressing the crowd, Modi praised the work done by the government in improving road, rail, and energy infrastructure, noting that Chhattisgarh is now poised to become one of the leading states in the country. “The transformation you are witnessing today is a result of our government’s focus on development, job creation, and ensuring that no region, especially tribal areas, is left behind,” Modi remarked.

He also highlighted the government’s initiatives to uplift the tribal population, including the launch of the “Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Utkarsh Abhiyan,” with an investment of ₹80,000 crore in tribal areas, benefiting nearly 7,000 villages in Chhattisgarh. This, alongside the “PM Janman Yojana,” will help address the unique challenges faced by particularly vulnerable tribal communities.

In the field of connectivity, the Prime Minister flagged off new rail services, including the MEMU train between Abhanpur and Raipur, and laid the foundation for several railway and road projects, including a ₹1,270 crore initiative to enhance road infrastructure connecting tribal and industrial areas.

Fulfilling his commitment to affordable power, PM Modi laid the foundation for power generation and gas distribution projects, including the Sipat Super Thermal Power Project and several gas pipelines, which will reduce reliance on truck transportation and enhance energy security in the state.

Addressing the issues of Naxalism, Modi attributed the rise of insurgency to previous governments’ neglect of development in tribal areas. “Naxalism thrived where there was no development, but now we are bringing peace, development, and prosperity to the people,” he said, noting the growing trust in the current government’s initiatives.

Concluding his address, PM Modi celebrated the Silver Jubilee Year of Chhattisgarh’s statehood and reaffirmed his government’s dedication to building a stronger, self-reliant future for the state. “We built it, and we will nurture it,” he said, urging Chhattisgarh to look forward to a bright and prosperous future.

Also present at the event were the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Ministers, and other dignitaries.
