TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 31, 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday participated in the celebrations of Mahavir Janmakalyanak Mahotsav held at the Dadabari pilgrimage site on MG Road in Raipur, stating that the teachings of Mahavira continue to guide humanity on the path of truth, non-violence and compassion.
During the programme held at the Dadabari Jain Tirth complex, the Chief Minister performed traditional rituals and offered prayers at the Jinmandir, seeking happiness, prosperity, peace and well-being for the people of the state.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also honoured several distinguished personalities who have made notable contributions in fields such as social service, journalism and education. The awardees were conferred with the Jain Ratna Alankaran, recognising their outstanding work and service to society. Shri Sai said such recognitions inspire positive change and encourage individuals to contribute more actively to social development.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the life and teachings of Lord Mahavir remain a timeless source of inspiration for humanity. He noted that the principles of truth, non-violence, compassion, restraint and spiritual discipline taught by Lord Mahavir provide a guiding light for building a peaceful and harmonious society.
Referring to the present situation in the state, Shri Sai said it is a significant coincidence that the celebrations of Mahavir Jayanti are taking place at a time when the country is moving towards a decisive phase in the fight against Left Wing Extremism. He said Naxalism has long been one of the biggest obstacles to development in Chhattisgarh, particularly affecting regions such as Bastar that are rich in natural resources but remained deprived of development for decades.
The Chief Minister said that due to the determined leadership and strategies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the country has made significant progress in overcoming the challenge of Naxalism. He expressed hope that the atmosphere of peace and development emerging in the state would continue to strengthen in the coming years.
Shri Sai further said that the state government has been working with renewed energy over the past two years to establish good governance and accelerate development across Chhattisgarh. Several welfare initiatives are being implemented to fulfil the guarantees made to the people.
He highlighted that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, permanent houses are being provided to the needy, while measures are being taken to support farmers and strengthen rural livelihoods. Through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, nearly 70 lakh women in the state are receiving financial assistance aimed at improving their economic independence.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the Ramlala Darshan Yojana, which enables devotees to visit Ayodhya for darshan. He said the state government is committed to building a prosperous and developed Chhattisgarh through inclusive development and welfare programmes.
Praising the Jain community, Shri Sai said its members have made exemplary contributions in areas such as education, healthcare, philanthropy and social service. He added that community events like the Mahavir Janmakalyanak Mahotsav help strengthen social harmony, inspire younger generations and promote values of peace and service.
Among those present on the occasion were MLA Rajesh Munat, Lokesh Kawadiya, Chandresh Shah, President of the Mahavir Janm-Kalyanak Mahotsav Committee, Vikas Sethia and Anand Jain, along with a large number of members of the Jain community and prominent citizens.
