Governor Ramen Deka plants Peepal sapling under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign
TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 3, 2026: A delegation of the Indian Red Cross Society and NCC representatives met Governor Ramen Deka during his visit to Saraipali in Mahasamund district on Friday. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and focused on strengthening humanitarian and social service initiatives in the region.
The delegation was led by District Organizer Dr. Ashok Giri Goswami and included office bearers and volunteers of the Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Mahasamund. The interaction took place under the guidance of District Branch Chairman Sandeep Diwan and under the direction of Mahasamund Collector and Ex-officio Chairman Vinay Kumar Langeh along with Saraipali Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) Anupama Anand.
During the meeting, members of the Red Cross welcomed the Governor with the Red Cross anthem. Counselors and volunteers of the organization extended a warm reception to him and shared information about various humanitarian activities being carried out by the Red Cross in the district.
Governor Ramen Deka, who also serves as the Ex-officio President of the Indian Red Cross Society (State Branch, Raipur), interacted with the representatives and appreciated the efforts of volunteers working at the grassroots level to support community welfare, health awareness and emergency relief initiatives.
On the occasion, the Governor also conveyed a message of environmental protection by planting a Peepal sapling in the premises of the Rest House at Saraipali. The plantation was carried out under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which encourages citizens to plant trees in honour of their mothers while promoting environmental conservation.
Officials present at the event said such initiatives help create awareness about the importance of protecting nature and encourage people to actively participate in environmental campaigns.
The meeting concluded with the Red Cross representatives expressing their commitment to continue humanitarian activities and community service in Mahasamund district. The Governor appreciated the dedication of the volunteers and encouraged them to keep working towards social welfare and environmental protection.
