Vedanta sets up 24×7 ‘Samvedana Kendra’ helpline; teams dispatched across states to support affected families
TFP Bureau, Singhitarai (Sakti), April 20,2026: Compensation is being disbursed to the families of workers who lost their lives in the recent accident at the 2×600 MW thermal power plant located in the Singhitarai Gram Panchayat area of Sakti district. Company representatives have begun reaching out directly to affected households within Chhattisgarh, while special teams have been sent to other states to ensure that families of out-of-state workers also receive financial assistance and necessary support without delay.
The accident, which occurred earlier this week at the power generation facility operated by Vedanta Limited under its Vedanta Limited – Chhattisgarh Thermal Power Plant, claimed multiple lives and left several workers injured. In response, the company has announced a comprehensive compensation and rehabilitation package aimed at supporting bereaved families and ensuring quality medical care for those injured.
₹35 Lakh Compensation and Employment Support
As part of the relief package, the family of each deceased employee will receive ₹35 lakh as compensation. In addition to the financial assistance, the company has assured employment support to eligible family members, providing a long-term source of livelihood.
Furthermore, designated family members will receive a fixed pension in accordance with the provisions of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). Officials stated that necessary documentation and formalities are being expedited to ensure timely disbursal of benefits.
For injured workers, a compensation amount of ₹15 lakh has been announced. In addition, their regular monthly salary will continue to be paid until they have fully recovered and are medically fit to resume duties. The company has described this measure as part of its commitment to stand by employees during the crisis.
Injured Undergoing Treatment in Raigarh and Raipur
The injured workers are currently undergoing treatment at reputed hospitals in Raigarh and Raipur. Several victims are admitted at Fortis Hospital Raigarh and Metro Balaji Hospital, where they are receiving specialized medical care.
According to hospital sources and company officials, the condition of the injured workers is gradually improving. As a precautionary measure, the plant management has engaged medical specialists to oversee treatment and ensure that no compromise is made in healthcare services. Arrangements have also been made to airlift critically injured employees to advanced medical centres via air ambulance if required.
Family members of injured workers have acknowledged the assistance being provided. Relatives present at hospitals stated that company representatives are continuously stationed there, overseeing treatment and arranging accommodation, meals and other necessities for attendants. They also noted that the quality of medical care has contributed to visible improvement in the patients’ health.
‘Vedanta Samvedana Kendra’ Launched
To provide round-the-clock support and information to affected families, the company has established the ‘Vedanta Samvedana Kendra’, a dedicated 24×7 helpline. The centre is intended to address queries, coordinate assistance, and offer guidance related to compensation, medical care, documentation and other support services.
Officials said the helpline has been set up to ensure seamless communication between the company and the families during this difficult period. Dedicated teams are handling calls and coordinating with administrative and hospital authorities.
Outreach to Families in Other States
Recognising that several workers hailed from outside Chhattisgarh, representatives of the thermal power plant and the contracting company have been dispatched to various states to personally deliver compensation and provide support to families residing elsewhere. The outreach teams are also assisting with documentation, insurance claims and travel arrangements wherever necessary.
Company Expresses Condolences
In an official statement, the company expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. It reaffirmed its commitment to standing in solidarity with the affected employees and their relatives, stating that all possible assistance would continue to be provided during the recovery and rehabilitation phase.
Authorities have indicated that support measures will remain in place until all injured workers have fully recovered and all affected families have received due compensation and benefits.
