PWD Secretary Reviews Departmental Operations, Stresses Quality and Timely Completion of Projects

Mukesh Kumar Bansal directs officials to enhance transparency, adopt digital technologies, and ensure technical efficiency and public interest in all construction works.

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 21, 2026: Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary Mukesh Kumar Bansal on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive review meeting with senior departmental officials and emphasized the need to maintain high standards of quality, transparency, and technical efficiency in all construction projects being executed across the state.

The meeting was held at Nirman Bhawan, the headquarters of the Public Works Department in Nava Raipur, where the Secretary reviewed ongoing projects, tender procedures, monitoring systems, and implementation mechanisms being followed by the department.

During the meeting, Bansal instructed officials to ensure that all construction works are completed within stipulated timelines without compromising on quality standards. He stated that public interest and technical excellence should remain the department’s top priorities while executing development works.

The PWD Secretary directed officials to adopt modern technical tools, digitization, and specialized software systems to improve operational efficiency and accelerate the pace of construction activities. He stressed that the use of advanced technology would help strengthen project monitoring, improve transparency, and enhance overall execution capabilities.

Bansal also issued strict instructions to complete all tender-related procedures in a transparent manner and within prescribed timelines. He said that any negligence or delay in execution of projects would not be tolerated and called for regular and rigorous monitoring of all ongoing works.

During the review, officials informed the Secretary that the department is increasingly utilizing modern geo-informatics technology for better monitoring, mapping, and project management of construction works across the state. Detailed presentations were also made regarding the work allocation process under tenders, billing mechanisms, and payment systems being followed for ongoing projects.

The meeting included detailed discussions on the status of major construction works underway in different districts, progress of tender processes, and preparations for upcoming infrastructure projects. The Secretary sought updates regarding the performance of contractors and departmental officials, along with information on technical procedures, quality control systems, and mechanisms for ensuring timely payments.

Bansal also reviewed the operational methodologies being adopted by contractors and emphasized the need for strict adherence to prescribed engineering and safety standards during construction activities.

Special attention was given to the progress of the Kachna Railway Overbridge project in Raipur, for which the Secretary sought detailed updates from concerned officials regarding the pace of work and technical arrangements being implemented at the site.

Senior officials of the Public Works Department were present during the meeting.
