Sanjeev Shukla reviews treatment of injured officers, directs best medical care after stone-pelting and bottle attack during law and order duty
TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 22,2026: Sixteen police personnel, including a woman constable, were injured while performing law and order duties during a rally in Raipur on Tuesday after violence broke out and some individuals allegedly pelted stones and hurled bottles at security forces.
According to police officials, the personnel were deployed to manage traffic and maintain security arrangements by erecting barricades along the rally route when the situation suddenly turned chaotic. The attack left 16 police personnel injured, with two officers sustaining serious injuries.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, Raipur Police Commissioner Sanjeev Shukla visited the hospital where the injured personnel were admitted. He met the injured officers, reviewed their condition and interacted with the attending doctors to obtain detailed updates on their treatment.
The Police Commissioner directed hospital authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for all the injured personnel. He also encouraged the officers and wished them a speedy recovery, appreciating their dedication while performing their duties under challenging circumstances.
Constable Kaleshwar Verma, one of the injured personnel, said he experienced breathing difficulties after getting trapped in the crowd near the barricades and was immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment.
Trainee Sub-Inspector Devraj Singh suffered a serious head injury after being struck by a bottle and remains under medical supervision. Doctors are closely monitoring his condition.
The remaining injured police personnel received first aid and were discharged after treatment.
Senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Tarkeshwar Patel, Assistant Commissioner of Police Nilesh Dwivedi and Town Inspector Rajesh Marai, accompanied the Police Commissioner during his visit to the hospital.
Police officials said further action is being taken in connection with the incident, while security arrangements in the city continue to remain under close monitoring.
