Ministerial sub-committee to oversee fertiliser supply during Kharif and Rabi seasons; Agniveers to get reservation in recruitment for Police Constable, Forest Guard and Jail Warder posts
TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 22,2026: The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan), on Wednesday approved two key decisions aimed at strengthening agricultural support systems and creating employment opportunities for former Agniveer soldiers.
One of the major decisions was the approval of a Ministerial Sub-Committee to ensure the timely and uninterrupted availability of fertilisers to farmers during the Kharif and Rabi cropping seasons. The committee will monitor fertiliser supply, distribution and overall management while providing policy recommendations and guidance to the state government.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who holds the portfolios of Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Urban Administration and Development, and Sports and Youth Welfare, will chair the sub-committee. The Ministers for Agriculture Development and Farmers’ Welfare, Cooperatives and Finance will serve as its members.
The Agriculture Production Commissioner will act as the Convener of the committee. The panel has also been empowered to invite officials from concerned departments, subject experts and representatives of relevant institutions whenever required to provide technical inputs and recommendations on fertiliser management.
In another significant decision, the Cabinet approved the framing of the Reservation of Vacancies in Class III Posts of State Civil Services for Agniveer Soldiers of Chhattisgarh Rules, 2026, providing 10 per cent reservation for eligible Agniveers in direct recruitment to selected state government posts.
Under the new rules, the reservation will apply to Class III positions, including Police Constables in the Police Department, Forest Guards in the Forest and Climate Change Department, and Jail Warders in the Prison Department.
The reservation will be available to Agniveer soldiers from Chhattisgarh who have successfully completed four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces and have been discharged with a valid service certificate.
The Cabinet noted that the decision fulfils the announcement made by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in the State Legislative Assembly on July 26, 2024, regarding rehabilitation and dignified employment opportunities for Agniveers after completion of their military service.
Officials said the initiative will not only provide meaningful career opportunities to former Agniveers but also strengthen the state’s Police, Forest and Prison Departments by bringing in trained, disciplined and experienced personnel with military backgrounds.
The Cabinet described both decisions as important measures to support farmers through efficient agricultural input management while simultaneously enhancing employment opportunities for ex-servicemen under the Agniveer scheme.
