Delegation discusses provisions of the Chhattisgarh Private Universities (Establishment and Operation) Amendment Bill, 2026 and expansion of quality higher education
TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 24,2026: A delegation of representatives from private universities in Chhattisgarh called on Governor Ramen Deka at Raj Bhavan (Lok Bhavan) on Friday and held discussions on the future of higher education in the state, including the proposed Chhattisgarh Private Universities (Establishment and Operation) Amendment Bill, 2026.
During the courtesy meeting, the delegation briefed the Governor on various aspects of the proposed legislation relating to the establishment and operation of new private universities. They also exchanged views on strengthening the higher education ecosystem and expanding access to quality education across the state.
Governor Deka emphasized the importance of promoting quality, innovation and academic excellence in higher education institutions. He shared his views on creating an enabling environment for the growth of universities while ensuring that students receive quality education aligned with national and global standards.
The meeting was attended by Gajraj Pagaria, Chancellor of MATS University, Raipur; I.P. Mishra, Chancellor of Shri Shankaracharya Professional University, Bhilai-Durg; Sushil Chandrakar, Chancellor of Bharti University, Durg; Dr. Sandeep Arora, Chancellor of Kalinga University, Raipur; Dr. Anand Mahalwar, Vice-Chancellor of ISBM University, Gariaband and Raipur; Abhishek Agrawal, Chancellor of Anjaneya University, Raipur; Chinmay Davda, CEO of Davda University, Raipur; and Harjit Singh Hoora, Pro-Chancellor of Columbia University, Raipur.
The interaction highlighted the growing engagement between the state government and private higher education institutions in promoting educational reforms and expanding opportunities for students in Chhattisgarh.
