₹100-crore-plus healthcare project to provide accessible and quality medical services to insured workers and their families
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 12, 2026: A major step has been taken towards strengthening healthcare facilities for workers in Bilaspur district with approval for five acres of land at Rahangi village in Bilha for the construction of a 100-bed hospital under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
The healthcare project, estimated to be worth more than ₹100 crore, is expected to provide better and more accessible medical services to ESIC-insured workers and their dependent family members in Bilaspur and surrounding areas.
The initiative follows efforts by Chhattisgarh Labour Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan, who had approached Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya seeking allocation of land for establishing the proposed hospital in Bilaspur.
Approval granted at ESIC Board meeting
The ESIC Corporation approved the allocation of five acres for the proposed 100-bed hospital at its 198th Board meeting held on June 30, 2026.
The hospital has long been sought by workers and their families in the district, who currently have to depend on healthcare facilities at distant locations for specialised and other medical treatment.
Once established, the hospital is expected to provide comprehensive healthcare services closer to the beneficiaries and reduce the need for workers and their dependants to travel outside the district for treatment.
The approval is being seen as an important step towards strengthening the social security and healthcare infrastructure available to registered workers in the state. Thousands of insured workers and their families in Bilaspur and neighbouring areas are expected to benefit from the proposed facility.
