₹74.88 Crore Released to 158 Urban Bodies Across Chhattisgarh

Funds to support salaries, retirement benefits, maintenance works and response to heavy rainfall

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 20, 2026: The Chhattisgarh Government has allocated ₹74.88 crore to 158 urban local bodies across the state under various financial heads, providing a boost to their financial resources and civic service delivery.

The allocation orders were issued by the Urban Administration and Development Department following approval from Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Sao.

Of the total amount, ₹45.07 crore has been allocated to 10 municipal corporations, ₹18.60 crore to 48 municipal councils and ₹11.19 crore to 100 nagar panchayats.

The funds have been released under various heads, including mandatory funds, revenue collection, compensation in lieu of octroi, excise duty, bar licence fees and stamp duty.

According to the department, the financial assistance is aimed at strengthening the fiscal position of urban local bodies and enabling them to meet essential expenditure and civic responsibilities more effectively.

The funds will help urban bodies meet salary and retirement benefit obligations, undertake repair and maintenance works and respond to situations arising from heavy rainfall and other local requirements.

The allocation is expected to provide greater financial flexibility to urban local bodies and facilitate uninterrupted delivery of basic civic services to residents across the state.
