Employees tie rakhis to security personnel; SHG women showcase entrepreneurial skills through handcrafted rakhis
TFP Bureau, Korba, August 28, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a unit of Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, celebrated Raksha Bandhan by bringing together employees, security personnel, healthcare professionals and community members, reinforcing its commitment to trust, safety, inclusion and community engagement.
As part of the celebrations, around 150 BALCO employees from different departments tied rakhis on the wrists of women, men, transgender persons and other security personnel deployed at the company. The initiative acknowledged the contribution of security personnel in safeguarding employees and maintaining a secure workplace. The rakhis symbolised mutual trust, responsibility and a shared commitment to safety.
Women members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) associated with BALCO’s Project Unnatti also participated in the celebrations. They presented and tied handcrafted rakhis to senior BALCO officials, including Rajesh Kumar Singh, CEO and Whole-time Director, BALCO.
The initiative provided a platform for the SHG women to showcase their skills, confidence and entrepreneurial capabilities developed through Project Unnatti. The programme focuses on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and promoting women’s economic empowerment.
At BALCO Hospital, SHG members tied rakhis to doctors and medical staff as a gesture of gratitude for their dedication and service to the community.
The festival was also celebrated with children at Nand Ghar, where youngsters prepared rakhis and tied them on each other’s wrists. The activity promoted creativity while familiarising children with the cultural significance of Raksha Bandhan and values such as love, care and mutual respect.
Nand Ghar is a Vedanta Group community development initiative focused on the holistic development of children and women. BALCO continues to support communities in its operational areas through programmes covering education, healthcare, nutrition and women’s empowerment.
The Raksha Bandhan celebrations brought employees and community members together in an atmosphere of warmth and solidarity, reaffirming BALCO’s commitment to care, respect, workplace safety, inclusion and shared progress.
