Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Chairs State-Level DISHA Committee Meeting

TFP Bureau, Raipur; Oct 01, 2023: Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel presided over a state-level DISHA Committee meeting to assess the collective programs and schemes under the DISHA Committee. This important meeting took place at the Vikas Bhawan office today, where Chief Minister Shri Baghel stressed the significance of ensuring that the intended beneficiaries receive the benefits of various government schemes. He also issued directives to officials to meet scheme targets within stipulated timeframes.

Chief Minister Shri Baghel highlighted the significant boost in rural employment through initiatives such as Gauthan and RIPA. The establishment of C-Mart has greatly facilitated the sale of products manufactured by self-help groups, and these group members are receiving training to enhance their employability.

The State-Level DISHA Committee’s review meeting encompassed discussions about monitoring and evaluating various programs implemented by the Central Government and enhancing coordination between the Center and the State. Multiple programs and schemes under various departments were reviewed, including Panchayat and Rural Development, Agriculture, Tribal Development, Social Welfare, Urban Development, Health, Revenue, Energy, Industry, Village Industries, Women and Child Development, Education, Food, Skill Development, CHiPS, Mineral, Water Resources, and Public Works.

Regarding the progress of works under MNREGA, it was reported that as of September 2023, 19.92 lakh families had received employment, and 1,36,838 projects had been completed. Notably, 5,690 new ponds and 2,915 Amrit Sarovars were constructed in the past five years under MNREGA. Chhattisgarh ranks 7th nationally in Aadhaar-based payments. Furthermore, all projects approved under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana-2 were successfully completed.

Chhattisgarh achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first state to achieve 100% approval of 5612 km in length under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana-3 and completing all of them successfully. Additionally, 175 villages were selected in the first phase of the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, and all of them were declared model villages after meeting the desired indicators, contributing to rural development. The Health Department’s Mukhyamantri Haat Bazaar Clinic Yojana provided free tests and distributed medicines to over 1.37 crore people last year. The maternal mortality ratio witnessed a significant decline of 23 points, marking the second-highest decline in the country.

The meeting was attended by MP Shri Guharam Ajgale, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Kunwar Singh Nishad, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Subrat Sahoo, Mrs. Renu Pillay, and all secretaries in charge.
