CAPF Constable (GD) Exam to be Conducted in 13 Regional Languages

Historic Decision to Promote Regional Languages and Increase Youth Participation

TFP Bureau, New Delhi; February 11,2024: In a landmark move, the Constable (GD) examination for recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will now be conducted in 13 regional languages alongside Hindi and English. The examination, slated to take place from February 20 to March 7, 2024, will accommodate approximately 48 lakh candidates across 128 cities nationwide.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the decision to conduct the Constable (General Duty) examination in 13 regional languages, effective from January 01, 2024. This historic initiative aims to bolster local youth participation in the CAPFs and foster the promotion of regional languages.

The examination question papers will now be available in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani, in addition to Hindi and English. The move comes as part of the concerted efforts to ensure inclusivity and accessibility in government recruitment processes.

The Constable (GD) Examination, a flagship assessment conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), attracts a vast pool of aspirants from across the country. To facilitate the implementation of this historic decision, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Staff Selection Commission have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), enabling the conduct of the examination in the aforementioned 13 regional languages.

This groundbreaking decision is expected to empower lakhs of youths across the nation, enabling them to participate in the examination in their mother tongue or regional language, thereby enhancing their chances of success. By expanding the reach of the examination to include diverse linguistic communities, the initiative aims to ensure equal opportunities for employment and career advancement.

With this progressive step, the Central Government opens doors for aspiring candidates nationwide to pursue a career in the service of the nation through the CAPFs, enriching the fabric of national security with linguistic diversity and inclusive representation.
