Initiative under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ aims to expand green cover while creating future nutritional and income benefits for rural families
TFP Bureau, Korba, October 2. 2026: Korba Power Limited (KPL) has distributed 24,035 fruit-bearing saplings among gram panchayats and communities in rural areas surrounding its operations in Korba district as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
The initiative was undertaken in alignment with the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ mass plantation movement and the Adani Group’s stated target of planting 100 million trees by 2030. KPL had set a target of distributing 25,000 saplings under the campaign.
The saplings distributed included mango, guava, jamun, jackfruit, lemon, almond, custard apple and amla. The initiative aims to increase green cover and biodiversity while providing rural communities with potential nutritional and economic benefits from the fruit-bearing trees in the years ahead.
Samir Kumar Mitra, Chief Business Officer, KPL, said the campaign sought to link environmental conservation with the message of respect for motherhood. He said planting a tree in a mother’s name could also encourage greater community participation in environmental protection.
CVK Prasad, Project Head, KPL, said the fruit-bearing trees could contribute to increasing green cover and improving the local environment. He added that the fruits produced in the future could supplement household nutrition and provide an additional source of income for rural families.
According to KPL, the plantation initiative is also intended to contribute to biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration and efforts to address the environmental impact of climate change.
The company said the participation of local communities in the campaign was aimed at supporting its long-term environmental conservation and sustainable development initiatives.
