Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai Gifts New Water Resources Office to Bastar

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 15, 2025: In a major administrative boost for the Bastar division, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated the Chief Engineer Office of the Water Resources Department in Jagdalpur today. The new office is expected to significantly expedite irrigation and water resource-related projects across all seven districts of the Bastar region.

Previously, approvals for technical surveys, DPR (Detailed Project Report) preparation, and construction activities had to be sought from Raipur. With the opening of this divisional office, such processes can now be handled locally, leading to faster execution of irrigation and infrastructure work.

“This is a big step towards decentralizing administrative functions and empowering the Bastar region,” said the Chief Minister at the inauguration ceremony. The office has been set up with the special initiative of Water Resources Minister Kedar Kashyap, and budgetary provisions have already been made for staffing the office at various levels.

Currently, the Chief Engineer’s office is operating from the upper floor of the Indravati Project Mandal building, which also houses the Superintending Engineer’s office.

The inauguration event saw the presence of several senior leaders and officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Water Resources Minister Kedar Kashyap, Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap, Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Singh Dev, Chitrakote MLA Vinayak Goyal, Jagdalpur Mayor Sanjay Pandey, District Panchayat President Vedmati Kashyap, and Finance Commission Chairman Nivas Rao Maddi. Chief Engineer K.S. Bhandari and other officials from the Water Resources Department also attended the occasion.
