CM Directs Health Camps to Combat Seasonal Diseases; Deputy CM Ensures Medical Procurement in Forest Areas

Efforts intensified to prevent malaria, diarrhea, and waterborne illnesses

TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 15, 2024: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has instructed the Health Department to launch extensive health camps across affected regions to combat seasonal diseases like malaria, diarrhea, and others. Emphasizing on swift action, Shri Sai underscored the importance of ensuring adequate stocks of life-saving medicines in every health center to prevent fatalities.

In response to the directive, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma visited remote forest areas including Chilfi, Jhalamla, and Taregaon in Kabirdham district. During his visit, he interacted with families affected by diarrhea in Sonvahi village and assured them of government support. Expressing condolences over recent deaths in Sonvahi, Shri Sharma inspected a temporary health camp at a tribal boys’ hostel, urging medical staff to enhance facilities and treatment protocols.

Highlighting the urgency, Deputy CM Shri Sharma also mandated the immediate procurement of sonography machines for government hospitals in these remote forest areas, aiming to bolster diagnostic capabilities.

Collector Shri Janmejay Mahobe reported five recent deaths in Sonvahi village due to various causes, prompting immediate door-to-door surveys by local authorities. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. BL Raj detailed the health response, noting that medical teams initiated examinations promptly upon receiving reports, with several individuals hospitalized for symptoms including seasonal fevers and vomiting.

Efforts are ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of recent fatalities, with suspicions pointing to consumption of poisonous mushrooms pending confirmation from postmortem examinations.

Deputy CM Shri Vijay Sharma reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing comprehensive medical care and support to all affected individuals in Sonvahi and surrounding areas.
