Deputy CM Arun Saw directs civic bodies to ensure effective utilisation of funds for basic infrastructure and public welfare works
TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 1,2026: The Chhattisgarh government has released ₹104.54 crore to urban local bodies under the Mayor’s Fund, Chairperson’s Fund, and Councilor’s Fund to accelerate development works and strengthen civic infrastructure across the state.
The Urban Administration and Development Department released the funds following the approval of Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Arun Saw, who directed all urban bodies to ensure their proper and transparent utilisation so that the benefits of government schemes reach residents effectively.
According to the department, the allocation will be used to undertake basic development works in Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Nagar Panchayats during the 2026-27 financial year.
Of the total allocation, ₹31.16 crore has been released as the first installment, representing 50 per cent of the annual allocation, for the Mayor’s Fund in Municipal Corporations and the Chairperson’s Fund in Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats. In addition, ₹73.38 crore has been released under the Councilor’s Fund for all three categories of urban local bodies.
The department has allocated ₹10.12 crore for the Mayor’s Fund across 14 Municipal Corporations, ₹11.06 crore for the Chairperson’s Fund across 57 Municipal Councils, and ₹9.97 crore for the Chairperson’s Fund across 121 Nagar Panchayats.
Under the first installment of the Councilor’s Fund, ₹21.84 crore has been released to Municipal Corporations, ₹24.34 crore to Municipal Councils, and ₹27.19 crore to Nagar Panchayats.
Officials said the financial assistance will help urban local bodies undertake priority civic works, improve public amenities, and ensure timely implementation of development projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life in urban areas across Chhattisgarh.
