UPSC Announces Final Results of Civil Services Exam 2024

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, April 22, 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024, with a total of 1009 candidates recommended for appointment to prestigious services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’. This marks a significant step in the recruitment process, following the examination’s written portion held in September 2024 and the Personality Test conducted from January to April 2025.

Top Achievers: Among the 1009 recommended candidates, Ms. Shakti Dubey claimed the first position. A graduate in Biochemistry from the University of Allahabad, she qualified the exam with Political Science & International Relations as her optional subject. Following her, Ms. Harshita Goyal, a B.Com. graduate from MS University of Baroda, secured second rank, while Sh. Dongre Archit Parag, a B.Tech. graduate in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from VIT Vellore, claimed third place.

The top five also included Ms. Shah Margi Chirag, a Computer Engineering graduate from Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad, who secured the fourth rank, and Sh. Aakash Garg, a B.Tech. graduate in Computer Science from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, who clinched the fifth position. Key Highlights:

  • A total of 1009 candidates (725 men and 284 women) have been recommended for various services.

  • 45 candidates with benchmark disabilities have been included in the final list, reflecting inclusivity in the recruitment process.

  • The examination began with 9,92,599 applicants and culminated in 14,627 candidates qualifying for the Main Examination, with 2,845 candidates making it to the Personality Test stage.

  • Vacancies across the various services include 180 in the IAS, 55 in the IFS, and 147 in the IPS, with an additional 605 in Central Services Group ‘A’ and 142 in Group ‘B’.

Comprehensive Representation: The recommended candidates represent diverse academic backgrounds, with the top 25 candidates hailing from varied disciplines such as Engineering, Humanities, Commerce, Science, Medical Science, and Architecture. Their optional subjects ranged from Anthropology, Public Administration, and Political Science to Sociology, Geography, and Literature of Tamil Language.

Provisional Results: As per the Civil Services Examination rules, the candidature of 241 candidates has been kept provisional, and the result of one candidate has been withheld for further review.

The UPSC has also published a consolidated Reserve List consisting of 230 candidates, ensuring additional selection in case of future vacancies.
