TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 3, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Saw conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing Raipur-Visakhapatnam Expressway works at Abhanpur during his journey from Raipur to Kanker. Emphasizing the project’s strategic importance, he described it as a key economic corridor that will boost connectivity between central India and the eastern coastline.
Shri Saw closely reviewed the under-construction overbridge in Abhanpur and interacted with engineers and representatives from the construction agency regarding the quality of materials used. He directed officials to ensure timely completion without compromising on construction quality or safety standards.
Continuing his inspection, the Deputy CM also visited Bhelwadih village to examine road construction progress along the expressway. He reiterated the need to strictly adhere to technical standards and road safety parameters. On-site engineers assured him that all quality protocols are being followed.
The six-lane, 464-km-long Raipur-Visakhapatnam Expressway, being developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, will connect Raipur with the Visakhapatnam port via Dhamtari, Kanker, Kondagaon, Koraput, and Sabbavaram. A large portion of the work has already been completed.
Speaking after the inspection, Shri Saw stated, “This is not just a road—it is a lifeline for the economic development of Chhattisgarh. The expressway will significantly reduce travel time to Visakhapatnam and open up vast opportunities for trade and transport. It is a landmark project under the Government of India’s Bharatmala initiative and will greatly benefit our people.”
Senior officials from the Public Works Department, including Chief Engineer Shri V.K. Bhatpahari, along with representatives from the Bharatmala Project and the construction agency, were present during the inspection.
