TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 6, 2025: In a major step towards enhancing transparency and engagement in the electoral process, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a new initiative to hold structured dialogues with national and state political parties. This move is aimed at fostering regular and constructive interaction with political stakeholders, allowing them to directly share their concerns and suggestions with the Commission.
As part of the first phase of this initiative, Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, held a significant meeting today at Nirvachan Sadan with a delegation led by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President Kumari Mayawati. The interaction focused on various aspects of the electoral process and aimed to create a collaborative framework for future improvements.

The Commission noted that this initiative addresses a long-standing need for direct and regular engagement with party leadership, aligning with ECI’s broader vision of inclusive electoral reform within the current legal framework.
Over the years, a total of 4,719 all-party meetings have been conducted at various administrative levels. These include 40 meetings by Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), 800 by District Electoral Officers (DEOs), and 3,879 by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), involving more than 28,000 representatives of political parties across the country.
This newly launched dialogue platform is expected to further institutionalize party feedback mechanisms, encourage transparent communication, and reinforce the Commission’s commitment to free, fair, and participatory elections in India.
