Election Commission to Launch ECINET, a Unified Digital Platform for Voters and Officials

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 4, 2025: In a significant digital overhaul, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to roll out ECINET, a single-point digital platform designed to streamline election-related services for citizens and officials alike. The platform aims to replace the need for multiple applications by consolidating over 40 existing mobile and web apps into one user-friendly system.

A One-Stop Solution for Electoral Services

ECINET is being developed to provide a seamless experience for all stakeholders—voters, returning officers, political parties, civil society members, and election officials. It will feature a modern interface with simplified navigation, eliminating the hassle of multiple logins across different platforms.

Conceptualised by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar during the March 2025 Conference of Chief Electoral Officers, the initiative is supported by Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi. The platform is currently in the advanced stages of development and undergoing rigorous testing for usability and cybersecurity.

Massive User Base to Benefit

Once operational, ECINET will serve an estimated 100 crore voters, 10.5 lakh Booth Level Officers, 45 lakh polling personnel, and thousands of electoral officials across India. Key apps such as Voter Helpline, cVIGIL, Suvidha 2.0, and KYC—which together have been downloaded over 5.5 crore times—will be integrated into ECINET.

Centralised Data Management and Legal Compliance

The data entered into ECINET will only be managed by authorised ECI personnel, ensuring accuracy and integrity. In case of discrepancies, statutory form entries will take precedence. The platform’s framework strictly adheres to provisions under the Representation of the People Acts (1950 & 1951), Electoral Registration Rules (1960), and Conduct of Election Rules (1961).

The design of ECINET has been informed by extensive consultations with Chief Electoral Officers of all 36 States and Union Territories, 767 District Election Officers, and over 4,000 Electoral Registration Officers, with reference to 76 official documents spanning 9,000 pages.

The Election Commission views ECINET as a transformative tool that will enhance accessibility, transparency, and operational efficiency in the Indian electoral process.
