TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 22, 2025:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated 103 redeveloped railway stations across India under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, including five upgraded ‘Amrit Stations’ in Chhattisgarh. These stations, designed to offer world-class passenger amenities and reflect local cultural heritage, mark a significant leap in Indian Railways’ infrastructure overhaul.
Participating in the inaugural event at Ambikapur Railway Station, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for including Chhattisgarh in this transformative initiative. The newly inaugurated Amrit Stations in the state include Ambikapur (Bilaspur Division), Urkura, Bhilai, Bhanupratappur (Raipur Division), and Dongargarh (Nagpur Division).
“The inclusion of Ambikapur and four other stations in the Amrit Bharat scheme has placed them firmly on the national railway map with a new identity,” said Chief Minister Sai. “This is a moment of pride for the tribal-dominated regions and the entire state.”
The event at Ambikapur saw participation from senior ministers and dignitaries including Forest Minister Ram Vichar Netam, Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade, and Lok Sabha MP Chintamani Maharaj, among others.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, a total of 1,337 railway stations across the country are being redeveloped. The stations inaugurated today feature modern architecture, high-end amenities, and infrastructure built for future capacity expansion. Enhancements include:
- Grand entrance plazas
- Spacious and well-furnished waiting rooms
- Modernized ticketing counters and sanitation facilities
- Ramps and amenities for Divyangjan
- LED lighting, coach guidance systems, and digital information boards
- Sheltered platforms and aesthetic improvements reflecting local art and culture
The Ambikapur station, in particular, has been highlighted as a symbol of regional development and cultural pride, showcasing local heritage alongside cutting-edge infrastructure.
This massive station redevelopment push is part of the government’s broader strategy to modernize public transport and make rail travel more comfortable, accessible, and efficient across the country.
