CM Reviews Health Department, Stresses Access to Medicines and Localized Treatment

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 5, 2025 – Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai chaired a high-level review meeting of the Health Department today, emphasizing the need to ensure that access to medicines extends to the last person in the state. He directed officials to enhance local healthcare delivery and promote alternative systems like AYUSH, which he said hold great potential for effective treatment across Chhattisgarh.

“Patients should be able to receive quality treatment near their homes, and every citizen must benefit from expanded healthcare services,” the Chief Minister said while reviewing the performance of ongoing schemes and initiatives in the Health Ministry. He also urged the department to prioritize combating anemia, improving maternal health, and eliminating leprosy.

Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal informed the Chief Minister that Chhattisgarh has secured 5th place nationally under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) program—an important benchmark in the public healthcare sector. He also presented a roadmap for future expansion and development of health services across the state.

Providing a detailed briefing, Health Secretary Shri Amit Kataria stated that Chhattisgarh has achieved significant progress in eradicating diseases like TB and malaria. The state has recorded a 90% TB treatment success rate, with 100% of TB cases reported. Furthermore, Chhattisgarh achieved 94% of its immunization target by March 2025.

The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to CM Mr. Rahul Bhagat and Mr. Mukesh Bansal, Commissioner of Medical Education and AYUSH Department Mrs. Shikha Rajput Tiwari, NHM Managing Director and Commissioner Dr. Priyanka Shukla, and Food and Drug Controller Mr. Deepak Aggarwal, among other senior health officials.

The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that public health initiatives reach every corner of Chhattisgarh.
