Union Home Minister Amit Shah Meets Officers Behind Major Anti-Naxal Success

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 7, 2025: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah met with senior officers in New Delhi today who played pivotal roles in the recent high-impact anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh. Congratulating them on what he termed a “historic success,” the Home Minister reaffirmed the Modi government’s firm commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India.

In a post on social media platform X, Shri Shah wrote: “Met the officers who played a crucial role in the recent anti-Naxal operations and congratulated them on the historic success. I am eager to meet the brave jawans who made these operations successful with their courage and will soon visit Chhattisgarh to meet them.”

The meeting followed one of the most significant anti-Naxal operations in recent years. From May 18 to 21, 2025, a joint operation was carried out by the Chhattisgarh Police and its specialized District Reserve Guard (DRG) units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur in the dense forests of Abujhmad. The operation culminated in a fierce encounter on May 21 in Boter village, where 27 Naxals were neutralized — including top Maoist leader and CPI (Maoist) Polit Bureau member Basavaraju alias Gaganna. A large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered.

Key officers involved in the operation — including Chhattisgarh DGP Shri Arun Dev Gautam, ADGP (Anti-Naxal Operations) Shri Vivekanand, IG (Bastar Range) Shri Sundarraj, SP (Narayanpur) Shri Prabhat Kumar, SP (Bijapur) Shri Jitendra Yadav, and SP (Bastar District) Shri Shalabh Singh — were honoured by the Home Minister for their exemplary leadership.

The event was also attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Kumar Sharma, Union Home Secretary Shri Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Shri Tapan Deka, and other senior officials.

The Home Minister’s interaction underscores the Centre’s continuing support for state-led counter-insurgency efforts and the broader national objective of eliminating Left-Wing Extremism. His forthcoming visit to Chhattisgarh is expected to further boost the morale of the forces deployed in Naxal-affected regions.
