Chhattisgarh Cabinet Sub-Committee Reviews Paddy Procurement Policy

TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 12, 2025: A meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on paddy procurement and custom milling, chaired by Food Minister Shri Dayaldas Baghel, was held today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan. The committee, constituted to finalize policies for the upcoming Kharif marketing year 2025–26, reviewed preparations for ensuring smooth procurement and milling operations across the state.

The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Finance Minister Shri O. P. Choudhary, and Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma.

Registration Through Digital Platforms

It was decided that farmers will be registered for the Kharif year 2025–26 through both the Agristek portal and the Integrated Farmers Portal. The ministers directed officials to carry out wide-scale publicity campaigns so that all eligible farmers complete their registration within the stipulated time.

Transparent Procurement and Timely Payment

The sub-committee emphasized that paddy will be procured at the support price announced by the Government of India exclusively from registered farmers. Clear instructions were given to ensure transparency in the procurement process and to guarantee timely payments to farmers.

To avoid any operational delays, officials were asked to ensure adequate arrangements for new and old jute bags required during procurement.

Safeguards Against Irregularities

The meeting also addressed the prevention of malpractice in paddy procurement. Special investigation teams will be deployed in border districts to curb the inflow of illegal paddy from outside the state. Strong measures will also be taken to stop recycling of procured paddy.

Milling Preparations in Focus

Alongside procurement, the committee reviewed arrangements for custom milling of paddy. Departments concerned were asked to coordinate effectively so that milling is carried out smoothly and in a time-bound manner.

The meeting was attended by Food Department Secretary Mrs. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, Finance Secretary Mr. Mukesh Bansal, Commerce and Industry Secretary Mr. Rajat Kumar, Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Federation Managing Director Mrs. Kiran Kaushal, Agriculture Department Joint Secretary Mr. Rahul Dev, and Apex Bank Managing Director Mr. K. N. Kande.

The deliberations reinforced the state government’s commitment to ensuring a farmer-friendly and transparent procurement system, safeguarding the interests of cultivators while strengthening the state’s paddy management framework.
