CM Vishnu Deo Sai Reviews Digital Initiatives; Plans 5,000 Mobile Towers from Bastar to Surguja

TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 3, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai reiterated Chhattisgarh’s strong commitment to digital transformation during a high-level review meeting of the Electronics and Information Technology Department held at Mantralaya, Mahanadi Bhawan on Thursday. Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047,’ CM Sai stressed that electronics and IT are pivotal to the state’s roadmap for a developed Chhattisgarh by 2047.

Chairing the meeting, Shri Sai urged officials to accelerate the deployment of over 5,000 mobile towers and expand fiber optic networks, particularly targeting remote and underserved regions such as Bastar and Surguja. “Robust digital infrastructure is critical to achieving efficient, transparent, and accessible governance across Chhattisgarh,” he said.

Officials reported that the ambitious target of installing mobile towers will be executed in phases within a fixed timeline. Under the e-District 2.0 initiative, the government plans to expand online services from the current 85 to 335, enabling citizens to conveniently access government schemes and services from home—saving time and reducing travel costs.

The Chief Minister also directed upgrades to the State Data Centre to meet Tier-III standards, enhancing the reliability and security of digital services.

During the session, progress on key projects was reviewed, including the Atal Monitoring Portal, Niyad Nellnar and LWE Saturation Dashboard, BharatNet Phase-2, Chhattisgarh State Data Center (CGSDC), Aadhaar Enrollment In-House Model, CG Swan, e-Procurement, and capacity-building programs.

Principal Secretary Mrs. Niharika Barik highlighted significant milestones such as the finalization of the long-pending data center upgrade tender after four years, successful launch of the Mineral 2.0 portal, implementation of the Wi-Fi Ministry Scheme, and submission of the BharatNet Phase-2 proposal to the Centre. She also showcased the Atal Monitoring Portal, designed to track key performance indicators of 100 schemes across 19 departments.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of Electronics and IT Mrs. Niharika Barik Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Subodh Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Rahul Bhagat, CEO of CHiPS Mr. Prabhat Malik, and other senior officials.
