No Fertilizer Shortage in Chhattisgarh: Ample Stock of Nano DAP, NPK, and SSP to Bridge DAP Gap

TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 14, 2025: The Chhattisgarh government has assured farmers that there is no shortage of chemical fertilizers in the state ahead of the ongoing Kharif season. Despite a global decline in DAP imports, the state has proactively stocked sufficient alternative fertilizers to meet agricultural needs and ensure smooth supply across cooperative societies and private outlets.

Officials confirmed that 1.79 lakh bottles of Nano DAP—a highly effective substitute for granular DAP—are in reserve, along with over 25,000 metric tonnes more NPK and 50,000 metric tonnes extra SSP than targeted. Murate of Potash stocks also exceed targets, with 77,000 metric tonnes stored against the assigned 60,000 metric tonnes.

While the target for DAP was 3.10 lakh metric tonnes, over 1.63 lakh MT has already been stocked, and another 48,000 MT is expected to arrive in July. Notably, the cooperative sector holds 62% of DAP stocks to prioritize easy access for farmers.

The Agriculture Department reported a total fertilizer stock of 13.18 lakh metric tonnes so far—38,000 MT more than the same period last year. NPK and SSP supplies exceed targets by 25,266 MT and 71,363 MT respectively, helping compensate for DAP shortages. Urea stocks also show a surplus of 6 lakh MT, with more expected in coming months.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai reassured farmers, “There is no need to panic over DAP availability. We have ensured robust supplies of Nano DAP, NPK, and SSP as effective alternatives. Guided by experts from Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya and the Agriculture Department, farmers can use these fertilizers with confidence and look forward to good yields.”

He also emphasized that cooperative societies are well-stocked with fertilizers and seeds, adequately meeting farmer demand across the state.
