The monthly initiative actively engages over 300 employees and business partners across multiple shop-floor units, promoting shared accountability and a culture of quality excellence.
At BALCO, quality control begins with rigorous evaluation of raw materials like coke, pitch, alumina, and aluminium fluoride (AlF3), which are assessed for chemical and physical parameters critical to efficient smelting. During metal melting, precise regulation of the cryolite ratio optimizes electrolysis. Subsequent purity checks and metallographic analyses ensure the molten aluminium and cast products meet stringent quality and uniformity standards. These comprehensive checks ensure product integrity while aligning with the company’s sustainability goals.
The ‘Quality Sankalp’ initiative, themed ‘Standard Work = Quality Work’, emphasizes adherence to standardized procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality output. By encouraging behavioural changes and individual ownership, the program aims to strengthen quality practices and position BALCO as a benchmark aluminium producer in the metals industry.
