TFP Bureau, New Delhi, July 31, 2025: Chhattisgarh is set to witness a major boost in infrastructure development following a high-level meeting between Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting paved the way for accelerated approvals of key road projects worth over ₹7,000 crore across the state.
As part of the discussions, Union Minister Gadkari directed officials to expedite financial approvals for these pending proposals. In addition, ₹600 crore has been sanctioned under the Central Road Fund (CRF) for road construction and upgradation works in Chhattisgarh.
Foundation Stone for Four Major Bridges in Raipur Soon
To ease urban traffic congestion, four new bridges will be constructed in Raipur. Their foundation stones are expected to be laid in the coming weeks. Plans are also in place to widen key connecting roads between Raipur and other districts from two lanes to four, significantly enhancing travel speed and safety.
95-km Six-Lane Industrial Corridor and Gati Shakti Integration
A significant development from the meeting was the directive to expedite the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a 95-km six-lane highway connecting Raipur–Arang–Bilaspur–Darri. This industrial corridor will link major educational, agricultural, and industrial zones. It was also decided that future state road projects will be aligned with the Centre’s Gati Shakti portal for faster clearances and integrated planning.
Samriddhi Expressway Extension and Highway Upgrades Approved
The Samriddhi Expressway will be extended up to Raipur to further enhance connectivity. The meeting also approved several other projects worth ₹115.95 crore, including:
- Upgradation of National Highway 130A
- Elevation work on National Highway 43
- Strengthening of National Highway 30
- Development of a 15-km city road within Bilaspur
- Enhancement of an 11-km stretch on the Katni-Gumla route
- Strengthening of a 4-km stretch in Keshkal, benefiting hilly regions
‘Roads Are Agents of Transformation’: CM Sai
Commenting on the developments, Chief Minister Sai said, “Roads are not just a mode of travel—they are engines of economic growth, employment generation, and social change.” He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to inclusive and eco-friendly development under the Anjor Vision 2047, which aims to provide robust transport access to every village and citizen.

Senior officials including Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Singh and PWD Secretary Dr Kamalpreet Singh accompanied CM Sai during the meeting.
