TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 8, 2025 – Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has hailed the Union Cabinet’s decision to extend the ₹300 per LPG cylinder subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana until the financial year 2025–26, calling it a “true gift” from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sisters across the country on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.
The Chief Minister said the initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s deep concern for the health and convenience of mothers and sisters, prioritising their well-being and respecting their vital role in family life. “This is a living example of honouring the power of motherhood,” Sai remarked.
The Central Government will spend ₹12,000 crore to implement the scheme, providing direct relief to 10.33 crore beneficiary families under the Ujjwala Yojana. Sai noted that mothers and sisters are the backbone of every household and that it is the government’s moral responsibility to acknowledge their contributions, ease their burdens, and ensure their safety.
Terming the move a significant public welfare measure for empowering the poor, women, and rural households, Sai said lakhs of women in Chhattisgarh will also benefit. “This decision will reduce kitchen expenses and ensure a smoke-free, safe, and healthy life for our sisters,” he added.
